Psalm 119:90 – God’s faithfulness continues throughout all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.

January 2024 - SWCA

Shepherd’s Watch Christian Academy (SWCA) has completed its first two quarters in the 2023-24 school year and are well on their way into the third quarter. Why is this special you ask…? This is SWCA’s first year of holding classes in the elementary building in Mattoon. For the 2023-24 school year we are serving students in grades 4K-4th grade. As we move into the 24-25 school year, we will be growing the classrooms to include 6th grade. That means SWCA will be enrolling students in 4K- 6th grade for the 24-25 school year.

When can parents enroll their children? SWCA would accept enrollment for the 2023-24 school year if there was a need, however we have begun enrolling for the 2024-25 school year. Enrollment forms are available under the “School” drop down at the top of this page.

SWCA has met all the requirements to operate as a Voucher school using the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) for the 2024-25 school and beyond. We are very excited about this as we feel it will give more parents the option to send their children to a school that includes Jesus in their daily activities. The window for parents to apply opens on February 1st, 2024. Parents can apply by going to the “School Dropdown” above and clicking on the WPCP application or going to DPI’s web page and searching for the WPCP application. Parents will need to qualify financially to receive a free voucher for their child(ren). You did read that correctly, FREE Christian EDUCATION…. Even if you are not sure of using SWCA for your children, we ask you to apply to the voucher program now, because if you wait until July to decide on sending your children to SWCA, the window to apply will have ended for the 2024-25 school year. Online enrollment is from Feb 1st through April 18, 2024.

What else is new for SWCA in 2024-25? Students living in the Antigo and Bowler school Districts will have bussing available to them. During the 2023-24 school year we heard a few parents mention the words “ if only there was bussing available !!” Well, starting in the 2024-25 school year, bussing will be available for those parents living in the Antigo and Bowler School Districts.

SWCA continues to move forward, providing children of parents in the Mattoon Community a Christian Academically Strong education.

January 2024 - SWCA

We want to inform you of happenings during the next two weeks here at SWCA where we would like to include parents.

First, We have one last “Open House” day here at SWCA. That will be on Tuesday, August 29th from 5:00-8:00 pm. The open house events during the summer were for parents and people in the community to see the school, however on Tuesday, August 29th we are inviting ALL current parents and students to school, along with parents/grandparents and others in the community that would like to know about SWCA. This will be an opportunity for students to bring in their school supplies before the first day of school. They will be able to show their parents where their desk is or their chair sits around a table. Parents will be able to meet fellow parents of SWCA.

We are also planning to have a few refreshments in the gym.

Secondly, is the FIRST day of School for SWCA. Parents are invited to join us opening SWCA on the first day of school, September 5th at 8:00am. Now I know that 4K children do not have school on Tuesday, Sept 5th, but parents may bring them along to the opening activities.

When students arrive at school, they are to go to their classroom. Parents may help their child or they may meet in the gym where a few refreshments are available. From the gym we will all meet outside in front of the school gymnasium for the Ringing of the school bell. You will hear a little History about the bell and then it will be rung to open the school year. Next we will move to the Flag pole in front of the school doors where the American and the Christian Flag will be hung. We will follow the raising of the flags with the pledge to the American and Christian flags.

After the pledges we will make our way into the gym for our first Chapel Service. Chapel will be a weekly event, on Wednesdays, where parents also may join their children. We will have a weekly Chapel offering which will go toward a Mission Project.

After the chapel service, the students will make their way to their classrooms. Parents may stay in the gym to mingle and enjoy a few more refreshments.

Exciting days lie ahead at SWCA and we continue to give thanks to our Lord for providing the opportunity to “Build Faith in the Hearts of our Children”.
