From the Desk of the Principal:

I can hardly believe that the first year of Shepherd’s Watch Christian Academy (SWCA) is nearing the halfway mark.   SWCA is truly blessed: by having teachers and teacher aides who are able to work with students individually,  by sharing the message of God’s Love with students who have never heard the name of JESUS before coming to SWCA.    Teachers and Teacher Aides are able to offer extra help to students who are struggling academically.

Students at SWCA have enjoyed a busy fall.  Students enjoyed a number of activities prior to December and then during December they brought Christmas joy to residents at the Rose May Manor here in Mattoon by singing Christmas Carols and sharing homemade Christmas Cards.  The students also joined individuals from the community to present this year’s “Christmas Program” here in the school gym.

I do have additional Good News for SWCA.  SWCA has been accepted into the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP).

What does this mean? This means that if parents qualify financially for the program, their children can attend SWCA at no cost to the parents. To qualify financially, as a household, you will have to fall below the 2024-25 income limit schedule

If you feel that you qualify, you will need to wait for the Application window to apply. This window will be open starting Feb 1st, 2024 and will be open through April 20th, 2024. Currently the WPCP Application link is not open for the 2024-25 school year. Watch for the link in the article “From the Desk of the Principal” later in January where I will have the link posted.

SWCA is also working to have bussing available for the 2024-25 school year for the Districts of Antigo and Bowler. Please share the information with anyone that you know who would like to have their children attend SWCA in the Fall of 2024-25.

If you have questions about either the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program or the bussing for the 2024-25 school year, feel free to call the school at 715-489-3638 or contact me at 715-509-0281 or email me at toon.schmidt@gmail.com

At this time, SWCA is planning to open the 2024-25 school year for students entering 4K- grade 6.  SWCA will be adding one additional teacher to the current teaching staff.

As mentioned, SWCA is well underway in our first year of offering a Christian education to the Mattoon Community.   As we work through the school year, we give thanks to all those in the community who have helped onmake SWCA a reality.  Without the support of the community, SWCA would not be able to share the Love of our Savior with the children here at SWCA.    We strive to “Build Faith in the Hearts of our Children”, because it is “Still All about Jesus”.

Welcome to Shepherd’s Watch Christian Academy’s (SWCA) Web Page.   Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I am glad you are here.  Let me bring you up to date on SWCA.

A week from today we will be hosting our last open house for the summer of 2023-24. There will be refreshments available.   Parents who do not have children enrolled are welcome to see what SWCA is all about and are welcome to enroll their child(ren).    Parents who have children enrolled at SWCA are welcome to drop their child’s school supplies off and locate their child’s desk.

Two weeks from today we will be celebrating the first day of school at SWCA.  On Tuesday, September 5th, we will be opening SWCA with the ringing of the original bell which was rung years ago in the Mattoon High School.   A few words about the history of the bell will be shared at that time.

From the ringing of the bell we will move to view  the raising of the American and the Christian Flags at the front doors of the school.  This will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to both flags.  From here we will make our way into the gymnasium where the first Chapel service will be held.

After chapel, students will head to their classrooms and parents and community people may enjoy a few of the provided refreshments.

The FIRST day of SWCA will have begun.  At SWCA our Motto is “Building Faith in the Hearts of our Children” which goes along with  our Theme for the 2023-24 school year “It’s Still ALL about Jesus”  is based on Philippines 6:18.

If neither of these times work out for you to tour SWCA, or if you would like to meet with me, feel free to contact me at toon.schmidt@gmail.com.

Blessings on your day
